Our services include:
Congestive Heart Failure Outpatient Program
We provide the Congestive Heart Failure Program at no cost to patients or their insurance companies. Who is a candidate? Patients at risk for congestive heart failure, or who already have a medical diagnosis of CHF. A physician referral is all they need to enroll.
At Methodist Medical Center, our goals are to improve patients' heart health, reduce the need for hospital admission, and enrich their lives.
We teach patients and their families about congestive heart failure and how to manage it at home through:
- Education
- Monitoring
- Support
Telemonitoring: one-to-one help
After a patient's initial visit, a nurse keeps in touch by telephone to monitor symptoms. Initially patients receive one phone call a week, then fewer as symptoms improve.
Patients are happy to feel they are not alone. They also have monthly support group meetings for education and encouragement. These are held at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month in the Cardiac Rehab Classroom at Westmall Medical Park, 200 New York Ave.
Chest Pain Center
Patients with chest pains receive noninvasive cardiac monitoring and 24-hour nurse observation. They remain as long as necessary in a safe, quiet, comfortable environment. The Chest Pain Center is located in part of the Emergency Department.
