The Methodist Medical Center Foundation hosted the 12th Annual Acorn Classic at the Oak Ridge Country Club on October 8.

The Foundation’s annual tournament benefits the healthcare programs and services of Methodist Medical Center. Proceeds from this year’s Acorn Classic will support Methodist Medical Center’s Hospitality Houses. At the Houses, patients and their families traveling from long distances for treatment at Methodist find free lodging, food, rest and, most of all, companionship for the journey as they deal with stressful times and difficult diagnoses.

This year, the golf tournament grossed more than $33,000 and included 82 golfers.

The tournament was divided into two flights.  The first flight, first place team consisted of Keith Newport, Sam Krakoviak, Aaron Sufferidge and Mike York. Second place honors went to Rick Landon, Mike Landon, Greg Singleton and Jody Waddell. Bob Eby, Andrew White, Mark Stansberry and Chris Strange took third place.

Second flight, first place honors were awarded to David Coffee, Roger Moore and Ray Christianson. John Harris, John-David Roddy, Alan White and Paul Martin received second place. Chuck Griffin, Mike Belbeck, Van Tyler, and Kevin Lusby took third place.

The tournament also included special contest holes. “Closest to the Pin” winners were Randy Stansberry, Tom Hilton, Spencer Hall and John Loftis.  Spencer Hall made the “Longest Drive” while Ed Kahn made the “Straightest Drive.”
