    Covenant Health's cardiac program has received the highest quality designatino from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), an organization dedicated to ensuring best possible outcomes for surgieries of the heart, lung and esophagus. The society represents nearly 7,000 surgeons, researchers and allied health care professionals worldwide.
    Based on data submitted from Covenant Health's elite heart hosptials - Parkwest, Fort Sanders Regional and Methodist Medical Centers, Covenant's cardiac program received a three-star overall quality ranking for coronary bypass artery graft surgery (CABG) in the STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database, regarded as the world's premier clinical registry for adult cardiac surgery.

    Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

    Covenant Health is the first health system in East Tennessee to offer this innovative procedure for replacing heart valves for patients with life-threatening aortic stenosis who cannot undergo heart surgery. The risks and recovery time associated with TAVR are much less in comparison.

    Hybrid Operating Room

    A new type of treatment facility is at Parkwest Medical Center, that combines the best of a traditional surgical suite with large imaging equipment such as real time x-ray and CT in a sterile setting. The hybrid OR allows less invasive, endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms in the chest and abdomen via catheters placed in the arteries in the groin.
