There are naming opportunities in and around MMC Health System facilities which can be used as a source of gift revenue. Each building offers opportunities such as lobbies and rooms. The attached list of Cancer Center Giving Opportunities is representative of the type and level of naming opportunities within MMC Health System.
Policy Statement
MMC Health System and Methodist Hospital Foundation, in an effort to foster charitable gifts, hereby institutes a policy of making available to the philanthropic public the opportunity to place (A) an individual's own name, (B) the name of a loved one, or (C) the name of someone whom an individual wishes to honor or memorialize on (1) a building, (2) a component part of a building, i.e., a room or wing of a building, or (3) equipment owned by MMC Health System.
RECOGNITION
Gifts or endowments memorializing or honoring an individual are appropriate, and recognition of these gifts can be made in a variety of ways. However, naming a facility in memory of a deceased individual presents special problems for MMC Health System. Patient rooms and treatment rooms are examples of locations where sensitivity to thoughts and feelings of patients and families must be considered before placing a dedication plaque. Examples of acceptable dedications are:
"Graciously given by ,"
"The Treatment Room"
Design of dedication plaques must have the approval of the following:
President of MMC Health System, and
Director of Development of Methodist Hospital Foundation
Placement of dedication plaques or plates must be addressed on a case by case basis. MMC Health System's sign policy will dictate the type of plaque or plate and its location.
