MMC Infusion Center
The Infusion Center at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge provides a comfortable setting where people can receive short- and long-term intravenous (IV) infusion therapy.
It is located in the medical center's Same Day Services department.
IV treatments include...
- Antibiotics, anti-fungal and anti-viral medications
- Chemotherapy
- Remicade for inflammatory disorders of the immune system
- IV immune globulin to boost the immune system
- Growth hormones
- Hemophilia factors to treat conditions in which the blood fails to clot normally
- Anti-emetic therapy to prevent nausea and vomiting
- Epogen (Procrit) to treat anemia related to cancer treatment, chronic kidney disease, HIV, and some types of surgery
- Neupogen and Neulasta to increase white blood cells
- Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccine to provide immunity or protect against tuberculosis
- Steroids
- Iron therapy
- Blood transfusions
- Monitoring of first doses of medications
- And many other treatments
The center provides therapy to patients who may not require hospitalization, but may not be receiving home care because of insurance constraints or personal preference. All patients are followed and monitored by a clinical team of experts. They also receive information about their specific therapy regimen.
A physician's referral is required.
