Why Robotic Surgery?
Robotic surgery means easier recovery for the patient, including:
- Less bleeding
- Smaller incisions
- Reduced post-operative pain
- Shorter rehabilitation time
- Quicker return to everyday activities
How Does Robotic Surgery Work?
Computer enhanced technology allows surgeons to work in a smaller space with better vision. The robot doesn’t do the surgery. Rather, a physician sits at a special console in the operating room and manipulates robotic “arms” with special tools attached. Another surgeon and specially trained staff monitor the patient on the surgical bed.
Who Can Be Helped by Robotic Surgery?
Prostate surgeries were the first procedures performed robotically. The technology has now spread to lung and cardiac patients, as well as ovarian and other gynecological procedures. Other general surgery applications are on the horizon.
How Can I Help?
Your gift support will make robotic surgery a reality for our community. Gifts of cash, property, stocks, insurance and estate gifts are all options for contributing. Each gift to the campaign is needed and appreciated. Every donor will be recognized and acknowledged for their generosity. For more information or to make a donation, please contact:
