This July, friends of the Methodist Medical Center Hospitality Houses are asking for the community’s support of a special campaign that will help keep the houses’ doors open to those who rely on them as a place of refuge when they are in the midst of an extended medical crisis. We’re calling this the “Summer of Giving.” During this time the community is encouraged to make a donation to the Hospitality Houses in any amount. Every gift allows the Hospitality Houses to provide help to patients and families who seek medical care in Oak Ridge.

Throughout the month of July, you can make donations at these designated locations throughout Anderson County: Lincoln's Sports Grille, TN Bank, and Y-12 Federal Credit Union, or donate online.

Methodist Medical Center established the Hospitality Houses to provide a place of comfort and rest where patients and their families can focus on physical and emotional healing without the financial burden of temporary accommodations, such as a hotel.  Methodist offers two houses that primarily provide temporary lodging for patients of Thompson Cancer Survival Center at Methodist, Thompson Oncology Group and their caregivers. The houses’ services are offered free of charge and guests stay as long as needed.  These special houses are available for guests who live at least 30 miles from Oak Ridge and must travel for extended medical treatment.

Anderson County has a unique service to offer through the Hospitality Houses.  They are a source of pride for our county and a way to lend a helping hand to our neighbors.  While the houses have been a home away from home to guests from 39 states and even one foreign country, the majority of guests who find refuge in our houses are truly our neighbors from nearby counties.  These houses are making a difference in the lives of those who are close to us, those who frequently utilize our hospital, our stores and restaurants, who attend our festivals and community events.  These Hospitality Houses make the difference when they come to Methodist and our county for their care.

By choosing to support the Hospitality Houses, you are supporting your community and your neighbors both near and far.  You can help continue this tradition of hospitality with a donation in any amount.  Whether big or small, every donation can make an impact when our community comes together.
