MEDIC’s four donation centers in East Tennessee will see donors by appointment only. The blood donation center said in a release that the move allows them to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines of keeping 6-feet of distance between people. This will also allow donor flow to be smooth and reduce wait times.

According to MEDIC, the blood industry has seen 130,000 fewer donations because of coronavirus concerns. More than 40 local blood drives have recently been canceled. MEDIC serves 25 hospitals in 22 counties. The blood center urges people to continue to give blood.
